Cool, comfortable and iconic

Summer is almost here and I'm already starting to put away my winter clothes. Jackets, coats, woolens...they are all folded, packed and ready to be carried to the basement.

What will I replace them with? Loads of T-shirts, shorts and capris. Speaking of capris, did you know that they were created in 1948 by Sonja de Lennart of Prussia? She named them after the island of Capri, much loved by her wealthy family.  There's also  a bit of gossip that goes with capris....in the United States, Mary Tyler Moore caused an uproar when she wore them on TV in the Dick Van Dyke show!

Well, I certainly will cause a sensation when I go around wearing these tight-fitting capris which I found on Esprit. They are stretch so you will get a nice curvy-figure.

Here are three of my favorites:

Blue dark  jeans, classic style with 5 pockets, they easily adapt to your figure.

These are also stretch jeans, casual, standard blue color

Black stretch capris, with two front pockets and two back pockets. I like the cut and ... look at the SPIKED belt!  Love it!

Judy Garland and Fred Astaire sang "In June, July and August we look cute when we're dressed in shorts".  That's just how I will look  when I wear these adorable coral shorts  :)  You will swoon  over the color, perfect for spring and summer.

To complete the outfits, I will add this pretty striped red  t-shirt. Light and loose fitting, it will cool you down during the heat of the summer.

This  attractive coral polo shirt combined with capris or shorts will bring you down memory lane, to the beach parties of the 1960s.

You can find all of these exquisite items on ESPRIT

THE CITY OF WINE AND SALT

Marsala is a port city in North-western Sicily. It is famous for its Marsala wine and for its Saline...salt ponds.

Here are some pictures around the city

Do you believe the size of this cannolo?  It's bigger than we are!

This is where we get our salt from.

Pizza and Nutella....Italian icons!

AN ITALIAN HERO: GARIBALDI IN MARSALA

Giuseppe Garibaldi is our national hero.  He landed in Sicily with his "Mille" (one thousand soldiers), specifically in Marsala.

Well, wouldn't you know it, in Marsala there is a Trattoria named after him...TRATTORIA GARIBALDI.

Here is the oven where they make fresh pizza and all their delicious food

A huge selection of ANTIPASTI  (appetizers)

The tastiest fettuccine with ragù

A magnificent CASSATA SICILIANA

If you come to Sicily I highly recommend this trattoria. You will find it on Piazza Addolorata 36 in Marsala.

A day trip

Marsala is the port where Giuseppe Garibaldi landed with his "Mille", (a  thousand soldiers). It is also the city of Marsala all'Uovo,  the famous sweet wine. On the outskirts of Marsala, you can find the characteristic salt lagoons, from where we get our salt.

Here is a short video of the city, then below you will find pictures.

RAIN OR SHINE?

These days the weather has been pretty weird...last week it was hot but the wind was chilly, then a few days ago  the scirocco started blowing away like crazy.  Today it's kind of warm but cloudy!  I decided to take out my raincoat.

For those of you who don't know, the SCIROCCO is an African wind. When it blows here in Sicily, it never stays less than three days. It brings heat and sand. When you walk outside  it feels as if you're breathing dust. Yesterday it was blowing at a speed of 55 km/hr, so it was  practically a gale. If you tried strolling down the street, you would be blown away, literally.

The radiant red raincoat is by  PROMOD.

The headscarf is a gift from my daughter and it's by H&M.
